The excitement and anticipation of Avengers Campus opening at Disney California Adventure on June 4th got me thinking. Let’s combine my love of Marvel movies and my obsession with Black Tap crazy shakes. Celebrate Avengers Campus opening at home. But don’t worry when you’re ready to plan your visit to the new land I’ve got you covered. Find everything you need to know from how to get on the new attraction, food available to new heroic encounters on this post.
It’s no secret that I love the Crazy Shakes from Black Tap! So when I was invited to create a Marvel themed shake I knew exactly which Super Hero I would theme my shake after. Can you guess just from the photo? His long light brown hair gave me the inspiration for the shake flavor. And it just so happens that peanut butter is my favorite flavor! Then I thought about my Super Hero and wanted to include his iconic weapon of choice. And thus the Twinkie “hammer” was created. So have you figured out who the Super Hero is I based my shake after?
You got it, Thor the defender of Asgard or hunk in the Avengers movies! The recipe and instructions how to make my “THOR”ific Peanut Butter Shake are below. And while my photography skills trying to capture a melting shake are less than stellar (thank you Arizona heat) the taste is spot on! Peanut butter and chocolate lovers and gonna want to try this one!
First we need to gather our ingredients
- 4 Tablespoons of chocolate fudge frosting
- 4Tablespoons of peanut butter
- 1 small bag Reese’s Pieces
- Hershey’s chocolate syrup
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 1/3 cup ice cream
- 1 Twinkie
- 1 Pretzel rod
- 1/3 cup peanut butter chips
- Whipped cream
I used a tall glass for my shake. Let’s begin with the rim. I spooned on chocolate fudge frosting and then topped it with peanut butter.
Next I added the Reese’s Pieces randomly all over the rim. Then I placed it in the freezer to firm up the candy in the frosting mixture.
While the glass is in the freezer let’s create the Thor hammer. Grab your Twinkie and insert the pretzel rod. And just like that you have your hammer ready to add to your shake.
Next, grab the blender and mix up your shake. I added 1 and 1/3 cups of ice cream, 1/3 cup whole milk and 1/4 cup peanut butter. Mix in the blender and then put it in the freezer until you’re ready to assemble the shake.
It’s time to get the glass with chocolate rim out of the freezer. For added chocolate flavor I drizzled Hershey’s syrup on the inside of the glass as shown below. Now pour in your peanut butter shake mixture that’s been in the freezer. Lastly layer whipping cream and peanut butter chips, insert hammer and straw. Now enjoy your delicious peanut butter chocolate shake.
By the time I started taking photos of the final project it was already melting. So I didn’t quite NAIL the photos but the HAMMER sure looks legit and the flavor was spot on!
